Chris Wakefield (55) from Warrington in Cheshire has always admired horses and wanted to learn how to ride, but could never work up the courage to do so- until now! After turning fifty-five, Chris is ready to saddle up for the ride of a lifetime on a beach ride in Cumbria with her big sister.

My name is Chris and I’m a retired teacher from Warrington in Cheshire. I have been living in Warrington for 30 years and one of the reasons I moved here from Middleborough was to complete my teacher training.
I’ve been horse riding a handful of times, but the last time a clap of thunder made the horse I was riding bolt and I never dared get back on again. But I have always wanted to saddle up again and go riding for the day.
It seems like such a shame that I never got back on that horse because of one bad experience, which is why I contacted the Think Again Fund so that maybe they could give me the push I needed.
I’m so excited to finally be given the chance to go riding again on the beautiful beaches of Cumbria and I’ll have my sister on hand for support. I’m sure that with the horse and the scenery I’ll feel really connected back to nature.
